AB Rick  Ash,  PhD,  received  a  bachelor's  degree  in  psychology  from  the  University  of  Illinois,  a  PhD  in  biological  sciences  from  Stanford  University,  and  completed  postdoctoral  training  at  the  University  of  California  at  San  Diego.  He  joined  the  Neurobiology  and  Anatomy  Department  at  the  University  of  Utah  School  of  Medicine  in  1980,  and  has  directed  research  on  membrane  biology  for  the  past  three  decades.  Dr.  Ash  currently  serves  as  Histology  Director.  He  was  awarded  the  University  Distinguished  Teaching  Award.
