The focus of the exam is on clinical application of knowledge, concepts, and principles necessary for the provision of safe and effective patient care. The examination is created and delivered through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). The NPTE is only one part of the evaluation process by licensing authorities. In some jurisdictions, the NPTE is supplemented by other means of accessing a candidate’s ability to practice physical therapy. For more information on each jurisdictional licensure requirements, see the FSBPT licensing authorities contact information at https://www.fsbpt.org/Free-Resources/Licensing-Authorities-Contact-Information. Additional information regarding the examination and registration can be found at the FSBPT website: www.fsbpt.org.
